Our Day with a Pro golf sessions have been one of our most popular ever – and it’s easy to see why! The below gives an outline into the day and also what you should take away from spending a whole day with our golf pros.
One of the most overlooked parts of golf, we will show you a warm-up as used by professional golfers around the world. This will get the blood pumping and you ready for the day ahead! The pace will be completely up to you and the aim is for you to take these stretches with you for whenever you play golf.
Built around ‘Dynamic Stretching’ – science has shown that it can improve muscle power performance by upto 24% during your round of golf.
Once we have completed our stretches, we head to the range and ‘get our eye in’ – pulling out a short iron and hitting 10 balls at a gentle and relaxed pace. After that we will hit 5 balls per club working our way up and through every club in the bag.
Whilst warming up, our Pros will walk round and talk to you – discovering what your aim is for the day. They shall also look at your ball flight and the strike / impact of the club.
An often overlooked part of golf – consider this: On a 200 yard shot, if the swing path is offline to the target by just 1º (with face square) it
will be missed by 3.5yards. But if the club face is offline by 1º (path being square) that shot will miss by 7.5yards.
We will look at:
- Clubface Alignment
- Club/swing Path
- Angle of Attack
- Clubhead Speed
- Strike Purity
After working with you on your long game, we will then head to our purpose built short game area. Here will will look at and work on your chipping, pitching and of course bunker play. Once of the most overlooked areas of the game, this is where your score will really start tumbling down.
A good chipping technique is something that you can easily repeat. Here are the fundamentals and some thoughts to help you improve your technique.
- Club Choice
- Ball Position
- The Action and Swing
Pitching follows the same process but with distinct differences – due to the need to hit the ball further and thus swing harder, pitching can be more difficult to master when becoming consistent. But still with us and we will pass on some of our very top tips.
The dreaded bunker… If you look at the best golfers in the world play a bunker shot, it’s almost therapeutic. It’s a long smooth swing with some speed at the bottom of the arc. And with our tips, this is what we would like to help you replicate!!
We will talk about club choice, your grip, where you should place the ball, your stance and of course how you should actually make that swing and hit the ball.
Some people are naturally great putters, others just need to work at it a little harder. Using our world leading Trackman4 for ball tracking, we can analyse your putting and make near instant changes and (hopefully) fixes for you to take straight out on to the course.
Putting needs to be kept nice and simple as its a feel motion. Putting is probably the most personal part of the game of golf.
“Putting isn’t golf, it is a game within golf. How good you are at
hitting the ball through the air bears little relation to how well you can hit it along the ground. Putting is largely a matter of instinct, touch and nerve.”
To single out the most important part of putting would be pace. no putt ever left short has gone into the hole. We will show your tips around technique to match your style and simple drills to enable you to judge speed and hit more consistent putts.
Some people always hit the ball well on the range but seemingly when it comes to the golf course they crumble – is it nerves? Whilst they can play a part, it is often much simpler than that. Course Strategy plays a massive part in any professional golfers armoury, so much so they have themselves and their caddies – you only have you!
We will help you look at what’s in front of you and start looking ahead to the next shot – just like chess. Which shot and type of shot has the highest chance of success and help you get in the hole in the lowest possible number? We will teach you.
We will help you build your own routine; through practice swings, thoughts, process and then of course hitting the ball. We will also look at:
- Course Management
- Types of Shot
- Green Reading
- Hitting Balls From;
- Uphill Lies
- Downhill Lies
- Ball Above Feet
- Ball Below Feet
- Golfing Rules and Etiquette
We really hope you enjoy your Day with a Pro Golfing Day – we can promise it will help you review your own golf and hopefully improve your scores out on the course. Each person will get a detailed overview on the day including drills and tips to take home.
